It was the day before the almost-two-week New Year holiday. Cheerful as I should have been, I was only feeling overwhelming stress. I assume this was not stimulated by the high expectation I held over my holiday although I did make big plans. Frankly, being the first possibility to be eliminated on the list, overexpectation was usually the case for me. But I trust my observation this time, at least for the prelimenary result. So, where does my depression come from?

Big question. So it only adds to the burden trying to avoid it from happening, but I'm doing it anyway. What puzzles me was that there's zero clues left that I could have foreseen such a matter striking when I'd been over the top just one day before trying to figure out a master plan for this holiday. Satisfied I'd been to have given myself some guidelines to fill the gaps so that I need not improvise (I myself am not easily entertained in stressful moments, especially when the holiday clock is ticking).

Perhaps it's a "collateral damage" of periods (I used to think it's an excuse for mood swing (and a sabotage on women's independence), but now that I've experienced it first hand, I have to retrieve those comments)? Or/and I worried something would come up and ruin my expected-to-be-happy holiday somehow?

I may have belonged to this category -- Walking Depression. It's comforting

Where should I start? I’m having a boring life since the day I secured myself this job. One that I see no career opportunity and appreciation from the others, colleagues or boss, as though I’m like an insignificant part of this workplace. Everything I’ve done, though it matters given the small size of the company, is rendered as a group effort but never a contribution of mine. My name is not on it. And the personal relationships? Complicated. Not that I can’t comprehend… or yes, I really can’t. You know me. If I don’t feel like it, I won’t even start to spend a single second to get to the answer even though it is easy enough. The only thing to thank for is probably the increasing understanding of myself these days of which I sincerely hope there’s some indication given to me as to what’s elements in the life today help. Just as I was telling my old friend yesterday after an expected-to-be-shitty show, my life now is at the bottom of THIS society (my philosophy was(?) to win this game and then start a new one with new set of rules), and the one thing makes me feel worth living is me being more able to see the connections between things.

But to be completely fair, to the second reason saying how I dislike the workplace that I currently put myself in, I am not a nice person to start with. I sometimes be like a mirror, reflecting people’s reaction to themselves. Or, well, I should say I cannot help but to take revenge. That way is much precise to many people, if they know my mind, but I don’t see how because I’ve learnt not to share these inner feelings even to the close ones. Back to what I was talking about: I often get theories from my closest friend that I’m being highly demanding – pursuing the norm. So I kept asking myself, even to this day, am I not being a nice enough person at work?

Weirdly, I get a sense of approval when I heard some parents complaining my boss’ ways to communicate with them. I triumphed secretly when I finally get to prove that he was the problem during our meetings. Until then can I finally persuade myself to take the high road thinking ahead of him before he even speaks – problem solved. (You should know before that I’ve spent days and weeks struggling, and a word from my friend, when I consult him on a similar matter, got me into thinking for a while before I accepted it: you two don’t share a language. I shared it with one of my colleagues. Surprisingly, she takes it so much easier than I ever could. No much principles in her… (Can I be less proud for once?!)

As for my family, it’s simple enough to be summarized in two sentences: I no longer have a home, and what I have left is a room that I though should be mine for all these years. Its “ownership”, as it turns out, comes and goes depending on the mood of its true actual owner. And my relationship is nothing reassuring as well. Things seem just fine and nice in the normal days, but it gets me into endless unhealthy "discussions" when problems strike. He and I speak two different languages, both Chinese though. It was all the timing and withholding issues (wasn’t sure when would be appropriate to speak one’s mind) that haunt us. And his friends... the biggest problem between us given their nature I don't approve of. All they ever say in an occasion of gathering are merely but gossip. They weren’t meant to care about you, listen to your problems, or deal with them hand-in-hand. Listeners are not among them, be real. What they seem to listen will at best be used in their favor, like interpreting them as gossips so that there's something handful to be employed when they run out of "topics". They aren’t that close that you have to admit. Even close friends are not always worth to be told what you truly think. More to that, when they gossip, they talk to the ones around you, make sure to keep them updated. No, talking to an irrelevant person sparks no chemistry in that conversation. Besides, it is gossiping not sharing, and everyone knows the fundamental difference.

The two got high and were wandering AIMLESSLY

Yes. maybe I should think about what’s upsetting me... Foremost among others, I could not imagine my life like Abbi and Ilana from Broad City. For one, I dun huv besties who would be such a great company to do crazy stuff with. Or should I say... it is me who dumbed those friends way back when I thought I need some serious life (or that I craved approval from work/professionals). And I always thought I would huv lived a fancy work life given my preparation for reality since year 2, but now I know it was not enough (I blinded myself into believing I was the best and slowed down).
I'm not much of a person of talents. Other than the willingness to learn ("greedy" maybe the right word), I have nothing to brag at all. I couldn't even control myself to have motivation (I do huv reasons though) to do almost anything. That translates into: I cannot do a thing literally. I have dreams, but as I put on hold the progress one time after another, I don't see when the dreams are going to be achieved. I'm totally messed up. Back in the days, I talked to my friend Gary and the answers came right at me. He changed my ways to see things, but now... well, let's just say I find it less effective than before. And he doesn't enjoy talking to me at all (he just couldn't help show you how much he wants to hang up and he has no interest in whatsoever you're gonna say)... I'm not a fan to search for whys on this issue, while it definitely feels bad.

"A bunch of idiots bypassed all other possibilities to solve a simple 5+5 question and claimed themselves as heroes," that's what I thought when I left the cinema (I held on though. Feeling like a victory of some sort of contests which carry shameful consquences if you lose).

Marvel's stories are usually straightforward, but Captain America: Civil War attempted something different.
Epic Fail, achieved in 2 hours (obvious foreshadowing for the wrong elements; little for the right ones) and by raw skills.

(Digging for Harvey's quotes, most likely you'll have tons of them mirroring my point, but cocky statements tend to be ignored by cowards, or they don't seem to reach that state of mind to comprehend all that)

It's time again to write myself something. Yeah, not for everybody, but myself. How arrogant this one is to have typed such thing? You may ask. But I do appreciate the people who happen to like me and my work because... as far as I know, they do not go for the obvious. They know the truth is not very attractive, but decide to hang in there. They've been wanting something unpretentious.
Yes, I'm creating a new reality. As my friend once shared with me his thought, things exist when you think/believe they do. No better time to fit myself in right here and right now.

Suffice it that it's easy to be a cynic.
What about the floaing-in-the-air-girl scene in The Revenant... I was like...WWWWWHAT?

RedLetterMedia's school of thought insists that trailers repeat its pattern: establishing shot of a city ---> mysterious, cryptic, and vague lines ---> build up to silence ---> action montage ---> throw in a laser shotting into the sky ---> Title. Let's just say I'm focusing on those of the movies I'm keen on, and surely professionalism which can solely be found on the dedicated. Action films are OUT of the question. I've seen trailers that inspire viewers (whether watched the movie or not) with different expectation of what this story will be like, and honestly some, more or less, do some crappy "movies" (if they could call themselves that) a favor for their box office.

Crimson Peak is like a pleasure, light reading in a summer's day (Not that it works for Hong Kong, humid and no breeze), thanks to Guillermo del Toro's effort to infuse visual or poetic beauty. Worth a watch. Skip the trailer, for its cheesy expression may turn you off.

That jerking-off face goes down in history (his, apparently)

Just to prove one point -- it takes love to perfect sex for it's a two-sided thing (sorry about the "thing" thing, got affected by its language) -- it burns a great Hollywood casting (I guess quite some strings pulled?). From Don Jon, you gotta see a package of favourites -- Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore(OMG!), Anne Hathaway and Channing Tatum (the two just appeared for... like... 30 seconds? as protagonists in a "film" within the film, demonstrating what the prototypical love story is: love at the first sight, be together, encounter conflicts, sort the things out and from then on live happily ever after).

5 Jan 2016

How should I put this? Remarkably stunning that is... a whole-day movie delight. First leading with inspiring Begin Again (glad that there's no preposterous romantic story line and there's Knightley's decent dressing), then perfectly satisfying main course Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, ending the day with cheerful Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse... and it's only half past three! Better to start the day early, huh?! You know what... in fact I was hoping I could order some more snack, or maybe something like this in front of me Burnt. Or another time. (Just as HK URBEX, I am not planning to tell my sources.)

Well... (so much I would like to start with other things, "well" popped up. I guess it's my uncertainty to blog at this time, nearly the deadline of my final year project...) I'm in no hurry rushing to the finishing line. Things will be as they should, at least that's what I believe. Even my sister felt strange of me not focusing on work, and immersing myself in the time-out zone.

I need school. School days keep me on track. Regular timetable with some occasional bits of unexpected twist sustains me spiritually.

This song may come off a little far-fetched if you've fallen for the bonding between the lyrics and the human-relationship-oriented MV. Even one human-being is too complicated to be analysed alone for one's layers are designed to act in front of all sorts of people. Billy Milligan has 24 of "himselves". Obviously enough, he was under study to tell this fact, but in my theory, though may not be medically persuasive, it does not necessarily take MPD to divide oneself into different kinds of personality. Purely it is some sort of mechanism of adjustment into various social environments. One changes, while some degree of interconnection of the personalities is in effect. High or low, depends on one's attachment in certain life values.

Okay, too much pretentious speech already. Back to the subject, this song represents more or less language/translation and me.

"Hello" 最近…好嗎?

Well... I thought registering a blog account would be such time-consuming process like what it used to be in the old days -- filling in numerous blanks as requested, answering questions in every aspect of life and so on. And thank God it turned out to be a 3-min thing, fast and convenient. OR it's simply me being way over the age to blog and trapped myself with an old-fashioned stereotyped image.

Anyways, as to why I blog, for anyone who might concern, especially the popularity of blogging started to fall these days in Hong Kong, I adore somewhere someone would like to read words more than to skim photos. Certainly I have no idea where it will lead me even though there is a lot I want to do...
